Two Jyotirlinga: Ujjain, Omkareshwar & Maheshwar

For those joining us from Delhi, the journey begins the night before. Board the NDLS DADN SF EXP (20156, 3AC) departing New Delhi at 23:25 on Thursday — seats go fast, so lock yours early. You'll roll into Ujjain Junction by 10:20 AM Friday morning, and by 11:00 AM you're checked in and settling into your stay, ready for the days ahead.

Start with breakfast at the property before setting off on a temple trail through the heart of Ujjain - Kal Bhairava, Gad Kalika Devi, Mangal Dev Mandir, and Har Siddhi Shakti Peeth, each carrying its own centuries-old story. Break for lunch with a plate of iconic Malwa cuisine, then rest a while before the evening everyone's been waiting for: the newly developed Mahakaal Corridor, followed by the Shayan Aarti Darshan between 8:30 and 11:00 PM — a moment that's hard to put into words until you've stood there yourself. Dinner happens on the way back to your stay. Sleep early; tomorrow starts before sunrise.

The day begins early at 8:00 AM as you set off toward Omkareshwar by Tempo Traveller, breakfast in hand for the road. By the time you arrive, a peaceful, secluded farm stay right beside the Narmada — complete with a private beach — is waiting to welcome you in. After freshening up and lunch, head toward Omkareshwar Island to visit the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga and Mamleshwar Shiva Temple, then walk the river island shaped like the sacred 'Om' itself, with a boat ride on the Narmada if conditions allow. As evening settles in, the day winds down around a bonfire, with dinner and music carrying you into an early, well-earned sleep.

The morning starts at 6:00 AM, with breakfast and check-out wrapped up by 8. From there, the road leads to Maheshwar — Maheshmati, the royal city of Maai Ahilyabai Holkar — where you'll wander through the fort complex, walk the ghats, take a boat ride, and browse the town's handloom and saree-weaving clusters before a slow, unhurried walk by the river. By 2:00 PM, it's time to head for Indore Railway Station, with a late lunch along the way if time permits. For those on the Ujjain-Indore package, this is where the journey concludes. For the Delhi group, one more leg awaits — boarding the 12415 INDB NDLS Express from Indore Junction at 5:10 PM.

The final stretch wraps up quietly, with arrival at New Delhi Railway Station at 6:20 AM. The trip officially ends here - but the calm of the Narmada and the pull of Mahakaal have a way of staying with you long after you're home.
