Delhi to Delhi, 3 Days 2 Nights - chase the Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga in Deoghar, then head to Bodh Gaya for the Mahabodhi Temple and Gaya Ji's sacred sites. Part of the 12 Jyotirlinga in 12 Months series, blending early morning darshan, overnight train journeys, and quiet spiritual moments - guided by a host with 8+ years on the road.
The trip begins with an evening gathering at Anand Vihar Railway Station, Delhi, by 4:45 PM. The train pulls out at 5:20 PM in 3AC comfort, and as it moves through the night toward Deoghar, something shifts, the noise of daily life gives way to quiet conversation, headphones, and the first quiet sense that something sacred lies ahead.
The train rolls into Deoghar at 9:35 AM, and a short auto ride takes you to your stay for check-in. After a relaxed brunch at 11:15 AM, the group boards a Tempo Traveller by 12:15 PM to visit Basukinath Temple, Trikut Parvat, and Tapovan Hill. Evening brings a return to the stay, dinner out, and an early rest, tomorrow starts long before sunrise.
A 4:00 AM wake-up call leads into the heart of the trip: departure for the temple by 5:00 AM and the Baba Baijnath Dham Jyotirlinga Darshan, lasting roughly three hours. Breakfast follows the darshan, then check-out by 10:00 AM. The Tempo Traveller then covers the 5 to 6 hour stretch to Gaya/Bodh Gaya, arriving by evening for check-in, a 9:00 PM dinner, and an early night.
The day opens with a 6:00 AM wake-up, breakfast, and check-out, followed by a sightseeing circuit through the Mahabodhi Temple, Dungeshwari, and Vishnupad Temple, with only light snacks along the way given limited food options en route. By evening, the group is dropped at Gaya Junction for the 7:35 PM Gareeb Rath (3AC), with dinner served on board as the goodbyes slowly begin.
The train pulls into Anand Vihar Railway Station at 8:50 AM, and the trip formally concludes. The darshan is done, the distances are covered, the silence is earned, you return to the same city, but not quite the same person.
